Matt Misso I'll steal part of Ted Butler's description and call this cassette a collection of short vignettes. really, really short, dark, scary ones. best when listened alone late at night, by the light of one single candle

about

Balruin's newest album emerges from the pits of the oneiric, capturing throughout 21 tracks an abundance of shadowy and fleeting impressions as if collected during a late night state of unconsciousness.
The album's German title "Miniaturen“ translates as "miniatures“ and fits like a black velvet glove to Baldruin's music. Over the past few years Johannes Schebler recorded and released a secret library of small and scary sounds and this album adds another chapter to the Book of Baldruin. Sonic sketches assembled with dreamlike confidence to keep you one foot from the grave.
(HA/CB)

"As far as you can go, with twenty one tracks in just about thirty two minutes, Baldruin will take you there. There is a wide variety of vignettes, but there is never a feeling of rummaging through the lost and found. Rather the opposite, as if looking through suitcase of a distinguished world traveler. Everything has a purpose and all of the belongings connect in some seasoned way."
– Lost in a Sea of Sound

"In these relatively short tracks, however, Schebler finds new and novel means in which to convert everything at his disposal in the service of some bent idea of pop music. Heavily pawed keyboards, bubbling beats, softened distortion, sound inputs from every source (mouth, bells, jars, plants) that are synthesized to some Frankenstein level of overwhelming their master. The textures and tonal qualities range from earthy and aquarian to ethereal and space-adjacent. Organics sampled to sound electronic in origin and electronics sampled to sound organic."
–Tome To The Weather Machine
